I've worked with Josie in the beginning of my freshman year of college 8-9 lessons straight week by week. I was freshly new to the world of singing and had intentions to simply become a better singer, but Josie emphasized how important authentic expression is. Though not in a cliche way you may think, where you should "embody yourself". This "common sense" advice from the common media can be vague, yet singing IS storytelling for as long as humanity dawned, and storytelling has various layers of intended expression that touches the human heart. She made me realize that expression is what you make of it. You are the creator, and creating moments where your experiences and human emotion shine through is deeply empowering for you and others. Because of this, I tapped into the innate power I already had by really stepping outside of my shell. Outside of singing lessons, Josie has supported me in my endeavors in my university's Musical Therapy Club that empowered my singing for club members, students around campus, and the reno community.
